The circles are snowballing!
The exploration of the gel plate continues apace. For every one print I make that I like, at least 5 end up in the collage pile. Today it occurred to me to direct my circle punches toward some of the “reject” prints.
The gorgeous layered colors make incredible visual texture, but the composition just didn’t work. So, now they are circles and I love laying them out against the simple color blocks I have printed.
I love these circles!
And of course, I also love the paper that I cut the circles from.
They could be such fun as masks for future prints! More exploring with that tomorrow!

When was the last time you made a value study? Paint with black and white and grey. See what emerges.
How do you feel about collage? I don’t like to get sticky! But I have all these papers I want to play with. I am going to have to try to get over the glue aversion.
Hello - new person here. Your circles on the backgrounds are looking good. Punches are fun - mine await, you've reminded me. I just made a lot of unintentional to-be-developed paper after knocking over a new large bottle of ink.... now mopped onto whatever paper + tissue was to hand. A supposed-to-be quick little convalescent making-an-effort became cleanup marathon.
As for sticky - I discovered matte gel medium a year or so ago, after long disliking other glues. I like Liquitex Ultra Matte. Also some Japanese pastes. I can check specifics if you'd like. I still get sticky, but much prefer this sticky to the old sticky. Also using an implement - kids glue spreader or a Catalyst tool, makes it easier. Hope this is not an overlong response!
